Hamas dismisses ceasefire proposal that puts release of hostages as first step

Hamas has slammed an international proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza which placed the release of Israeli hostages as the first step in the process.

The group said they were open to a ceasefire, but said that the new proposal - made by the US and 17 other countries - failed to address Palestinian demands.
